Scanner Sorrows

I have some good news and some bad news. I'll start with the bad news first .... I'll do it quick ... like a Band-Aid. The Emerald Angel Comics scanner is busted. 100% Broken. I cannot scan all the artwork I sketched out over the past few months while I was waiting on the computer situation to be righted.

But, on a positive note, the computer problems were finally addressed. A new laptop has been purchased! The acquisition of the laptop was all I needed at the time to scan and digitally color my work to finally get moving. And, the scanner decided to die.... ¬_¬ It's just a year old! Literally! I got it the same time last year that I got the laptop this year. For my birthday... Yeah. They were both birthday gifts. The scanner was last years birthday present. I'm so bummed! :'(

Now, I need to acquire a scanner. Sadly, it will be a little while before I can afford a scanner. I have had offers from loyal fans (there are still some of you out there?!?!) to ship to me scanners they aren't currently using. We will see how this works out in the next few weeks ... or months.

Meanwhile, I can move forward on other digital production. I am about to test out some Open Source software alternatives for Adobe Flash since I no longer have access to the student version I was leeching from for so long ... Since, without it I can't finish production on Dressup Chrissy 2. I have had people asking me about that and other games since they were promised to be released ages ago. However, I was using the school's version at college since they were only 30 minutes away. Now that I've moved 600+ miles away I have no access to the college I'm alumni at. So, I can't finish the games unless I buy the software ... which I have no funds for. Or, find alternative software.

Luckily, finding alternative software is something I'm good at. I use all kinds of alternatives for everything else, so it's only right I find a replacement for the rest of Adobe's products. I can't afford their stuff and if I had to wait on affording it before I could make a living from my work .... then I'd starve to death.

I have downloaded and installed two Adobe Flash alternatives that look promising. I will have to play around with them to get a good feel for the programs and see if I can continue production on my games. Dressup Chrissy 2 is literally sitting at 85 to 90% complete at this time! It's been stuck there ever since I moved. So, hopefully I can finish the last little bit and finally get it out for everyone to play.

If anyone has any suggestions for software, let me know.

Love, Chrissy.
