Should I create Light Novels?

Updated: May 19

I have dozens of physical notebooks, sketchbooks, and folders as well as text documents and art files on my laptop, PC and phone of written comic scripts, sketches, stories, and brainstorms from the last 30 years. Stuff I wrote when I was in high school and beyond. Ideas for comic series I wanted to create. As a single person trying to create all these comics myself, it's feeling like a lot of these series I have planned will never happen.

So, I'm wondering if I should take a majority of this body of work, sift through for the most complete stories and rework them into novelettes. In the popular Light Novel format that a lot of manga and anime series end up based on. (These would have comic style covers and interior art to accompany the stories.)

If the light novels of one or more series get popular enough, maybe I can move to comics of the series. I can then focus more on the main comic projects. This would get more of my stories out there to potential fans who may enjoy them. With so much work, I can have one or two Light Novels ready by the fall as well as the comics I'm currently working on.

I have an editor who is willing to proof read all my work.  All I need to do are the edits to polish my writing and draw the illustrations.

What do you think?

Chrissy
